In case you are reading from the future or don’t know of this yet, today protestors breached the Capitol and interrupted the certification of Joe Biden’s win; it resulted in the death of a woman from a shooting. Ironically, it seems as though the pro-Trump rioters have spurred both the House and the Senate to reject all challenges to the validity of the votes, and the process is expected to go through without objection.

Events like these make me realize just how much visibility the general public lacks into the inner workings of politics at the federal level (and how much we are worse off because of it). Did the objecting politicians really feel as though the mob was shameful and disgraceful? Was agreeing to put aside all objections simply an act of self-preservation? Was there some sort of deal? I doubt we’ll ever know, but it’s something that I’m curious about.
